I offer a range of services in writing, storytelling and audio production:
- Story consultancy - get feedback on structure for both written and audio pieces.
- Writing - I can polish your writing, or write to a brief. I specialise in longform pieces (> 2000 words).
- Narration - I can narrate your documentary, and help with the writing.
- Sound design - I love designing the flow of an audio documentary. Music and sound effects can help the listener to follow the story better, and also increase the impact.
Writing
I’m an NCTJ-qualified journalist and I've written for a wide range of publications, in print and online. These include the Western Mail, the Independent, Climber Magazine and UKClimbing.
I've also co-written and narrated a climbing film — Fall Theory, from award-winning film-maker Alastair Lee of BritRock Films.
I'm interested in narrative non-fiction writing — stories that speak to us beyond the boundaries of their subject matter and tell us a little bit about the world and human nature.
Podcasts
One of my favourite projects has been the Factor Two podcast. A series of audio-documentaries for climbers, taking a tangential view of many climbing stories previously told, and often not told before. It's got listeners all over the world and has been shortlisted for awards.
Books
I'm currently working on a book about my experience of working in a care home during the 2020 coronavirus lockdown.
