Echo Moss
Echo Moss is an autonomous ecosystem where wandering entities leave living memories in their wake. Cells remember visits, leak memory into neighboring cells biased by travel direction, and develop unique resonance identities over time.
Watch as wanderers deposit glowing resonance trails. Notice how memory slowly decays and leaks forward in the direction of travel, creating self-reinforcing pathways.
How it works
The simulation is driven by simple decentralized rules governing both cell memories and wandering agents:
Memory & Decay
Cells remember being visited, and the memory of each visit slowly decays over time.
Directional Leak
Memory leaks into nearby cells, with the leak skewed by the average direction of travel.
Resonance Identity
Wanderers deposit unique resonances, developing distinct cell identities over repeated visits.
Trail Attraction
Wanderers are naturally drawn to areas that have been previously visited.
Crowd Avoidance
Wanderers steer away from over-crowded areas to explore new territory.
By combining trail memory with directional diffusion and individual wanderer preferences, Echo Moss creates evolving patterns that mimic organic growth and slime mold behavior.
